Xiangyunsha: A Thousand Years of Tradition

Xiangyunsha is a traditional silk fabric that has been passed down for centuries in Shunde, Guangdong Province, China.
It is created using a rare dyeing technique recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage and is also known as the "black gold of silk."

Xiangyunsha is made from 100% mulberry silk. It is carefully crafted using a traditional method that involves repeatedly dyeing the fabric with a plant-derived dye solution from dioscorea cirrhosa, applying natural river mud, and sun-drying it multiple times.

After repeatedly applying and drying unique river mud on one side, it is sand-washed to soften, creating a fabric with a mineral-like black luster, featuring brownish-red and black surfaces.

Finished Xiangyunsha is soft and elastic, with a sturdy and durable structure, and is characterized by a high-quality, lustrous texture. It has a cool, non-sticky feel.

As Xiangyunsha silk is a natural material, repeated washing will naturally cause its color to fade, which is a normal phenomenon.
The muddy coating on the surface gradually peels off, revealing the yellow base color.
For this reason, it is referred to as "soft gold."

Care Instructions

Xiangyunsha is a delicate material with natural dyes. To preserve its beautiful texture for a long time, we recommend the following care:

• Avoid using a washing machine or dryer.
• Gently hand wash in cold water below 30℃ using a neutral detergent.
• Do not scrub or wring forcefully.
• Lay flat to reshape and air dry in a well-ventilated shade.
• Prolonged direct sunlight will cause fading.
• Avoid direct contact with perfumes, deodorizing sprays, or moth repellents.
• When storing, avoid humidity and store dark and light colors separately.

*Due to the nature of natural materials and traditional dyeing, there are individual differences in color unevenness, texture, delicate cracks (crackle patterns), and color aging. Please enjoy these as unique characteristics of each Xiangyunsha piece.
