Xiangyunsha: A Thousand Years of Tradition

Xiangyunsha is a traditional silk fabric with a long history in Shunde, Guangdong Province, China.
It is created using a rare dyeing technique recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, and is also known as the "black gold of silk."

Xiangyunsha uses 100% silk (mulberry silk). It is meticulously produced using traditional methods, involving repeated dyeing with plant-derived Dioscorea cirrhosa dye solution, followed by application of natural river mud and repeated sun-drying.

By repeatedly applying unique river mud to one side and drying it, then washing it with sand to soften it,
a mineral-like black fabric with a lustrous, brownish-red and black surface is ultimately created.

Finished Xiangyunsha is soft and elastic, with a firm, durable structure, and is characterized by its high-quality, lustrous texture. It has a cool feel and is not sticky.

As Xiangyunsha silk is a natural material, repeated washing will naturally cause its color to fade,
but this is a normal phenomenon.
The muddy coating on the surface gradually peels off, revealing the yellow base color.
This is why it is called 'Soft Gold'.

Care Instructions

Xiangyunsha is a delicate material with natural dyes. To enjoy its beautiful texture for a long time, we recommend the following care instructions:

• Avoid using washing machines or tumble dryers.
• Gently hand wash in cold water below 30°C using a neutral detergent.
• Do not rub vigorously or wring.
• Reshape flat and air dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
• Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause discoloration.
• Avoid direct contact with perfumes, deodorizing sprays, or insect repellents.
• When storing, avoid humidity and store dark and light colors separately.
