“Xiangyunsha,” a Traditional Fabric with a Thousand-Year History

Xiangyunsha is a traditional silk fabric that has long been produced in Shunde, Guangdong Province, China.
Created using a rare dyeing technique designated as a national intangible cultural heritage, it is also known as “black gold silk.”

Xiangyunsha is made from 100% mulberry silk. It is carefully crafted using a traditional method in which the fabric is repeatedly dyed with plant-derived shiliang dye and coated with natural river mud before being sun-dried.

Because it is crafted by hand and shaped by the natural forces of sun, wind, water, and earth, no two pieces of fabric have the same pattern or shade.

Care Instructions

• Lay flat to reshape and allow to air-dry naturally in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
